The Girl Guides were going strong, and new organisations, such as The Sunlight League and the New Health Society were formed to promote healthy living. Exercise became popular, as too an exploration of the great outdoors. Here Tucker paints three young women, independent, navigating their own way, carrying their provisions for the day. In portraying these, Tucker captures something of the spirit of the times. This is new-found leisure time, healthy and invigorating, and it is painted with such detail and vividness, too.
