We are Cycling Home and past a country junction. There’s a classic red ‘low bridge’ sign; a swooping delve and then the road ahead, edged by hedges and tall trees. And the light is that of a sun low in the horizon, low enough to cast shadows across the landscape through which the cyclist travels.
