DescriptionWatercolour with pen and ink, originally for ‘This is Paris’ (1959). Étoile is the station situated beneath Place de l’ Étoile at the end of the Avenue des Champs-Elysées. The Arc de Triomphe is in the centre of the Place, and Étoile is just below the Arc. In one direction you can travel towards Neuilly, in the other, Vincennes. This is a wonderfully whimsical depiction of the Metro.
