DescriptionWatercolour with pen and ink, originally for ‘This is London’ (1959). This exceptional print is comparable in many ways to work by the Futurists – see Cyril Power’s ‘Tube Station’ for instance (Cyril Power- Artists). There is wonderful geometry guiding us vortex-like into this print; particularized people: the guardsman, the city gent in top hat, the woman shopper and the tweed jacketed gentleman; but it is the vibrancy of the colours, particularly, which make this print so much a favourite.
